I was born with the marketing gene. I grew up in a family with decades of ad agency experience, and I’ve always known this would be my path. Is chemistry my best subject? Nope. Is physics in my wheelhouse? Not even a little bit. But being a part of creating a strategic marketing campaign…now THAT’S where my talent is.
Surgeons save lives. Engineers build skyscrapers. Real estate agents sell property. And people like me put them on the map. Advertising is personal. It’s person-created and person-consumed --- it’s highly concentrated in human thought and emotions; it’s an exchange of human creativity and connection.
The numerous projects I’ve done as a student, an intern and an assistant account executive have challenged me as a thinker, creator, and strategist. And growing up around creatives and entrepreneurs has shown me first-hand the complex aspects of advertising. I have used this insight to create my portfolio, and I hope my dedication and understanding of the full picture of the ad business is clear throughout my work. Coming up with an idea is great, but bringing it to life is what matters.
The satisfaction and pride that comes from creating a strategic marketing campaign is a feeling that inspires me to work and push myself further. I am extremely well-rounded and my work ethic is something I take pride in. My whole life I have been taught to be my own person and to be an independent decision maker, which so far has taken me a long way. My self-determination has caused me to rise above my peers and be selected as a natural leader, which I know will continue to benefit me in my professional life!
To this day, I am still in awe of the education I have received in the Stan Richards School of Advertising at The University of Texas at Austin. I am forever grateful, and I could not be more excited to take what I have learned and continue to strengthen my skill set in this next chapter of my life.
